The crystals are fine in the oven on the low temperature it takes to fire polymer clay. Would love to see some of your roses once you have made them. I have been setting crystals in Ferido lately (like polymer clay except it is a 2 part compound that air cures/dries so no baking involved).
polymer clay and crystals
Ok to bake
Crystals, Polymer & Ferido
I was in a class at Bead & Button this year where the instructor placed a hot fix flat back onto a Poly clay piece and then baked it. The temperature in the oven activiated the hot fix glue and it seems to have held really well onto the clay. I am have not tested it out too much more but figured I would pass on the information.
As far as the Ferido is concerned, it has not been known to have a very long shelf life and I don't personally us it any longer. I have been working on a new epoxy product called Crystal Clay instead. I have found that if you tend to have very warm hands or are working in a hot enviornment, then the clay can be more soft than you may desire. Once you have mixed the product together, rinse your hands in cold water to cool them down and see if that helps. I have several students that have had this problem and it seems to help a bit. You may also want to let the product set for about 5 minutes before embellishing.
Hope that I offered some help or at least another option.

Crystal Clay
Another vote for Deb's Crystal Clay! It's my new obsession.
It's easy to work with - soft and pliable, unlike some other stiffer products. For those of us with hand and wrist issues (I've had surgeries on both of my thumbs!), it's lovely to work with.
Plus, it comes in a good variety of colors, and best of all - no baking! I love that it air dries.

(sorry, I need to take some better pictures)

Thanks for sharing this information. I really
like your way of expressing the opinions and sharing the information. It is

because I have experienced about that and I face the problem like that. There I

polymer clay and crystals
hope someone can help me out, I am making small roses from polymer clay and wanted to place a crystal in the center of the rose prior to baking, so I don't have to glue it. I need to know if crystals can be placed in the oven and suffer no damage. or what kind of glue would I need to glue the crystal after the rose is baked and hard.
thanks
