RioGrande

Thank you Monica, I knew this site.....but it is in USA...I seach something in Europe, to can go there and learn, and see all the equipment and Toolbox ........

If anybody know something in Europe.....maybe organized in Wattens by Swarovski AG , I would be the first on the list ????????????????? I researching soldering since a while...but I don;t know what are the indispensable things for this technique....what I necessarily need to be able to solder 2 casings together....then what solutions are needed for cleaning, and finally the electroplatting with rhodium.....

     I need a specialization course- a step-by-step...for beginners....

THANK YOU!

Edith Brosch

Edith, Are there schools, art centers or bead stores

in your area or neighboring countires that offer

soldering classes?

There are several places where I live do.  I took

soldering classes in two places.

Or you'll have to plan to go to Tucson in Feb

2010.  Nick Regine from Swarovski teaches

basic soldering and master soldering classes

every year.  Smile

The Create Your Style with

The Create Your Style with Crystallize Swarovski Elements is on February 2-5, 2010, I don't think there is a link yet, but all the info will be publicized on the CYS site, (I think usually in September).

Here's a link for info on some of the shows that are scheduled already:

To Bead True Blue:  http://www.tobeadtrueblue.com/ (January 31st, February 5, 2010)

Tucson Bead Show:  http://www.thetucsonbeadshow.com/ (February 6-8, 2010)

Colored Stone's website has a guide to jewelry shows that will also have info about Tucson:  http://www.jewelryshowguide.com/.  Hope these help you...maybe you CAN come this February!  Wow, that would be great!

Diane...

Since I'm going (AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH...sorry still can't get over that!) I'm wondering when do I need to start submitting pieces into the contest? I'd really like to try to enter and see how I do.

But I'd like to get a head start on ideas and making something. Is there usually a theme like Swarovski does? I think I'm going to enter as a student, not amatuer...I think I'll have a better chance compared to my chances with the other categories... I'm definately not a professional lol. :D

Anywho, yea any contest info would be great, I'll start planning everything later on. I know I'll have to get a head start in November probably.

Are you referring to the Swarovski contest?

That's the only one I am aware of.  The last I heard, it is being revamped, and I don't know when the new one will be announced....hope soon!  Yes, there usually is a theme, which makes it a bit difficult to get started before the contest is announced...although I don't really know how much the theme is taken into consideration in the judging...guess it depends on the judges.

Of course, it is always good to be thinking of new designs that go above and beyond your usual...I'm always thinking about what I could enter into the next contest!

I agree with you, you should enter as a student.  You are an art major, right?  As soon as the announcement is made you should bring the info to one of your professors...someone who teaches design maybe, and ask them to help you.  I think in the past the students were only required to submit a design rendering (vs. a picture of the finished product) and a product list and their products were supplied if they made the semi-finals. This would probably help you a lot, Wendy.

Sparkles and smiles,  Diane

Or you can plan to go to

Bead and Button show this time next year.

They have many soldering and other classes.

This has the result for a search on soldering.
