First, I heard that Crystallized Swarovski Elements was phasing out one of my favorite crystals the 5301 Bicone and was replacing it with the new 5328 Xilion. OH NOOO!!!!
Course then I took a step back and was a little bit curious as to why they would bringing out a new element but I have to say that once I saw and then tried the 5328 Xilion, I fell in LOVE with it! While it is still in my favorite bicone shape it has more facets to it that makes it sparkle even more and I have never considered that to be a bad thing! Combined with my love of working with wire and the new 5328 Xilion was smooth, fabulous and easy to work with. I think, no I know, that I am in serious like with this new crystal!
Course to be perfectly honest, I love any Crystallized Swarovski Element so I am a bit of an easy sell but when it sparkles more and is actually easier to use in a variety of designs and techniques then that makes it a HUGE win in my book!
So, I when I was challenged as a Create Your Style with Crystallized Swarovski Elements Ambassador to come up with a inspirational design and try out the new 5328 Xilion crystal........I thought...... I pondered.......I wanted to do something that was sometime fun, yet would make a statement of sorts.

Part of my life is working as Jewelry Product Designer designing components (pendants, connectors, beads, clasps, etc....) in addition to my other roles as a wife, mom, jewelry designer, instructor & Create Your Style Ambassador. So, I decided to design the piece like I do components, draw it first on paper, pick the colors, technique that I wanted to use which was all wire and wire wrap in this case and start creating to see if the finished product would look like what I had in mind or if I had gotten just a bit too ambitious. Fun, right?

I don't know about you but I love to create jewelry that looks relatively simple to create but is stilll a bit more complicated than it first appears and uses various techniques to achieve the overall look. Using wire and crystals in 4mm, 6mm & 8mm in all Crystallized Swarovksi Elements- 5328 Xilion in Black Jet AB, Black Diamond & Colorado Topaz AB and an assortment of chains in silver, black & antique gold to finish off the necklace, I was happy with the end results!

At the end of the day, I was pleasantly surprised not only with the new crystal but also with how the design came out. I love that the necklace was fun to create yet makes a statement actually quite the statement when you see it in person!
I hope that you like the necklace and are inspired to try out the new 5328 Xillon crystal and create a statement piece of your own!
Sparkles!
