About me

Much like a crow, I am endlessly fascinated by sparkly things. I'm a supermom, wordsmith, author, TV Spokesperson, chanteuse, thespian, jewelry and mixed media artiste, black sheep, roustabout, ne'er do well...and a Jill of All Trades/Renaissance Woman. I believe that a girl can never have too many shoes and that every girl needs a tiara. I believe in random acts of kindness, unconditional love and in paying it forward whenever one can. That about covers it.  I specialize in deceptively simple to recreate exposed wire, hard wire and mixed media designs.  My focus is on the Average Jane who lacks time and patience and my true mission in life is to inspire people to "Create Without Filters" and to judge themselves and others less.  After all, creativity isn't about the result, it's about the journey.  You can find a lot of fun free ideas at my blog http://margotpottertheimpatientcrafter.blogspot.com/ and learn more about me at my website: www.margotpotter.com.

Experience and Creativity

I am a designer and author who specializes in jewelry and accessories. I work in the DIY craft world and have published five full length how to books for FW Media/North Light including Bead and Wire Jewelry Exposed with co-authors Katie Hacker and Fernando DaSilva which was sponsored by Create Your Style. I'm currently finishing up my sixth title.  I do extensive work with magazines and design work for manufacturers.  I write an internationally popular blog The Impatient Crafter where I post free projects, product and book reviews and musings about living a creative life. I am a member of the Beadalon Design Team, a CRYSTALLIZED-Swarovski Elements Ambassador, a certified instructor for Ranger Ink and I blog for I Love to Create.  I've been working with Create Your Style for six years and I absolutely adore crystal!

Hobbies and Interests

jewelry design, making art, music, theatre, backyard chicken farming, fair trade handicrafts and consumer goods, film, pizza, snoopy dancing, chocolate (extra dark,) books, shoes, vintage clothes, ephemera and kitsch, wine, cooking

Fields of Creativity

Design (Jewelry and Accessories) Mixed Media and Altered Art (Decoupage, found object and paper arts) Consulting Public Speaking Writing Poetry Singing Acting Performance Art TV and Video Hosting

Favorite Movies and Books

My favorite film is Willy Wonka...followed by a diverse list of films that celebrate the human spirit in all of its endless and fascinating variations. I do not watch horror movies however because life is scary enough. So many books so little time. I love writers who tend to the poetic and surreal with a strong sense of the absurdity of the human condition. (I love my books...of course!)

Great to see you here, Margot. I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone much better over time in this community. Your classes have been very helpful, I still use the color wheel and the magazine page idea from 2006!

I have never taken a class anywhere and I would just love to know how other people do it :-)
