- About me
I am a Colorado native who has resided in Las Vegas, Nevada for the last 14 years. My wonderful husband Allen and I have three children of our own and a foster daughter. We will soon be empty nesters and only have a beloved dog to dote upon. My first career was as a television producer/director. I have a degree in journalism from Colorado State University. This comes in handy for my articles and books.
- Experience and Creativity
As a self taught artist, I love exploring and experimenting. I take a non-traditional approach to much of my work. I have a button and craft line through JHB International. I teach around the world as an independant instructor and for several companies I make regular guest appearances on television shows appearing on HGTV, DIY Network, PBS and the internet. I have authored several books and DVDs as well as writing columns and making regular submissions to several magazines. When I'm not doing the above, I organize creative cruises and participate in workshops around the world. - Hobbies and Interests
I like to travel, read, create, and donate my time to worthy causes and events. I especially like working with underprivileged children. I also have the interesting desitinction of having worked in a few movies and being a famous actress's photo double. You'll have to guess that one.
- Fields of Creativity
I have worked as a professional artist for over 20 years. I am self-taught and specialize in work with polymer clay, Swarovski crystal, fine silver clay (Senior Certified instructor), and resin. I also incorporate mixed media elements into my work including and not limited to paper, wire, wood, glass, fabric, feathers, metals and more. I also do egg carvings, many of which are embellished with crystal. One of my scrimshaw ostrich eggs belongs in the White House egg collection. I incorporate my work into events I plan such as creative and crafting cruises and retreats.
- Favorite Movies and Books
Favorite movies include: Knotting Hill, Last of the Mohicans, Under the Tuscan Sun, Three Days of the Condor and too many more to name. I'm a bit of a movie nut. Favorite books include anything by Diana Gabaldon, Michener, Dan Brown, Sophie Kinsella, Jane Greene, Jodi Piccoult, Pearl S. Buck, and Ken Follet (especially Pillars of the Earth). I am also a fan of non-fiction writers including Joseph Campbell. Can you tell I like to read?
