Hi, My name is Mel, and I'm a designer from Far north coast NSW, but recently moved to the Fraser Coast of Queensland, Australia. I started making jewellery in late 2006 for my high school formal to match a dress with a colour scheme that didnt match anything available, and lets just say, I haven't looked back! I use a combination of beads, wirework, polymer clay, and lapidary when I get the time! I'm willing to try anything!

- Experience and Creativity
I am mainly self taught when it comes to my jewellery, I experiment with the wire and beads (or whatever medium I'm using) until it works. When it comes to lapidary, I've had other members of the club teach me what they know (because with that sort of machinery I dont think I could safely jump in head first straight up!). I look to magazines and books for new inspiration and techniques, as other people's ideas tend to kick start my lightbulb into gear! Seeing something beautiful that someone has created only makes me want to create something beautiful of my own. Other that that, living in the country makes me look to nature for inspiration, you'll probably notice alot of flowers and butterflies in my designs because of that. I love some of the raw and organic shapes that are naturally occurring and try to incorporate that into my pieces, but mainly the pieces take whatever shape they want and don't always go according to plan!
- Hobbies and Interests
Other than making jewellery, I enjoy lots of things. Shopping for one!
I also do some new vogue dancing (its a bit like ballroom).I've just completed a degree (Bachelor of Arts majoring in History/Politics and Psychology) at Southern Cross University, so I am excited to see where it takes me. Or to see if the jewellery takes me in a different direction!

Yeah, I recognised your name amongst a few here when I signed up months
ago (its just taken me a while to post stuff! :-P ). Its great to see
what everyone gets up to when they're not doing the comps, or just what is in the comps I missed.
Anyway, thanks for the welcome, and I'll try to keep the unique stuff coming, after all its what I do! :-)
