I'm Amanda Pickstock from Bristol. My friend Jane Purdy and I run Shiney Company www.shineyrocks.co.uk. I am crystal crazy, I find it hard to make jewellery or embellish items with anything else. A bit of an addiction I'd say!
- Experience and Creativity
I have been making jewellery for over 10 years now and I would say my expertise is in wire work. I love traditional beadwork, however, I rarely find the time these days to sit for hours with my seed beads and crystals. I regularly teach classes at both of our bead stores and still enjoy getting creative in my pyjamas on a Sunday morning. Designs still wake me up in the middle of night and I can't think of anything better to do each day than be the owner of a bead store, especially one that stocks mostly CRYSTALLIZED™ - Swarovski Elements .
- Hobbies and Interests
I wish I had time for more crafts, but my hobby time is limited due to running a business. I have recently bought a sewing machine and I am having great fun, making little bags and purses and embellishing the material with beads and hotfitx crystals, using my BeJeweler Pro (it's a great tool and the best one for working with CRYSTALLIZED™ - Swarovski Elements). I enjoy reading and love cooking and I hope to disappear off for a few weekends this year in our new tent with our new dog. I'm obsessed with my little Manchester Terrier. His name is Pip and I trying to convince my husband that he will look just fine in a crystallized dog collar!
- Fields of Creativity
Sewing, beading, wirework, crystallizing clothing and fabric, knitting, felting and making beads with polymer clay. I also used to play the cello and the guitar, but find less time for this these days.
- Favorite Movies and Books
I am currently reading Victoria Hislops second book, the Return. I am hooked already. Her first book the Island was an amazing read. I love readying Ceclia Ahern too!
No time for movies I'm afraid, I can't sit still that long, when I should be making jewellery.

Looks like you are truly a Sparkling member of our Community! We are so happy to have you join us, as we are all crystal crazy, and have "a bit of an addiction". Val, one of our members calls it OCD, Obsessive Crystal Disorder. We have decided there is no cure, only treatment....with crystals daily!
